In 10972, Bendigo City Council renamed the Bendigo East Pool the Bert Graham Swimming Pool. In 1963 he was made a Life Governor of the Bendigo Base Hospital and Benevolent Home; In 1979 he received a Community Service Award from Develop Victoria Council, and in 1986, the Order Of Australia (O.A.M.)

Joseph Anderson Panton migrated to Sydney in 1851 and went to the Port Phillip District. After farming briefly at Mangalore, he tried for gold without success at Mount Alexander. In 1852 Panton was appointed assistant commissioner at Kangaroo Gully, near Bendigo, senior assistant commissioner at Bendigo in 1853 and senior commissioner in 1854.
