Post Office Telegram January 8 1886 Re: Disappearance of Constable Thomas Ryan of White Hills Police Service No. 1098. It is feared that Constable Ryan fell down a mine shaft in White Hills on his way back from making an inspection of the Chinese Camp in Kennington in inclement weather on Wednesday night January 6, 1886 some time between 9 and 10 pm.
