Diggers & Mining. Stores at the diggings. The pictures we have of the diggings stores show only individual stores of small groups of stores. But contemporary writers speak of almost continuous ''streets'' of hastily erected stores in the centres of most of the important goldfields - even before the establishment of goldfields towns. We have been unable to find a contemporary picture of these ''Canvas Towns''. Markings: 30 994.LIF. 5. Used as a teaching aid.
