Diggers & Mining. Stores at the diggings. 'Board and lodging' was available on the diggings. (see picture.) The beds provided were stringy-bark couches ranged along either side of a long tent. Meals consisted of mutton, damper and tea. At Bendigo, in 1852, full accommodation of this type cost 1 pound per day. Markings: 19 994.LIF. 5. Used as a teaching aid.
