The metal and plastic tea pot commemorates the group’s first prize win at the 1959 Bendigo Competition (now known as the Bendigo Eisteddfod).The Benola Singers were founded in 1957 by Mavis Webster MBE; the choir was a prominent four-part community group in Bendigo. After Mavis Webster's retirement, the group changed its name to the Bendigo Chorale. Dunklings were a prominent jeweller in Melbourne with a business in Bendigo and provided the commemorative trophy annually.
