The trophy commemorates the group’s first-prize win in the Ladies Choir category at the 1960 Bendigo Competitions (now known as the Bendigo Eisteddfod).The Benola Singers were founded in 1957 by Mavis Webster MBE, the choir was a prominent four-part community group in Bendigo. After Mavis Webster's retirement, the group changed its name to the Bendigo Chorale. Dunklings The Jewellers, was a well-known Australian retail chain that historically provided high-quality silver-plated presentation pieces.

Physical description

Benola singers collection, large EPNS trophy , bowl shaped with lions head ring handles and decorated with relief grapes and vines, brass wire netting insert and on a circular black wooden base with green felt underneath. Engraved on side, Bendigo Competitions 1960 1st Prize Ladies Choir won by Benola Singers presented by Dunklings The Jewellers.
