Being reasonably new to Bendigo, Rob became interested in its history and began writing articles to share with the volunteers. He called them ‘Grapevine Cuttings’ under the pen name of ‘Merlot’. Jonathan Harris operated a winery on the banks of the Axe Creek, Axedale in the 1850s.
A metal pipe three centimetres diameter, 50 centimetres long has a cap screwed to the top which has a one centimetre diameter 13 centimetre long curved tube coming from the side of it. From the top of it a half centimetre diameter metal rod in a triangle six centimetres by nine centimetres by six centimetres pulls out and would have an attachment on to draw out the liquid. There is an attachment that slides on the pipe and has a screw cap on it to screw the pump to a container. Part of the Harris Collection.

A walking stick shaped from heavy wood, probably Ironbark, a heptagonal shape with a knob on top shaped to fit into a hand. There is a three centimetre wide metal band six centimetres from the bottom. Part of the Harris Collection.

'Cover letter, addressed to McColl, Rankin and Stanistreet, Commonwealth Bank Chambers, Charing Cross, Bendigo, informs 'that the Honorable the Minister has granted a suspension of the Labour Covenant of Lease No. 9903 Bendigo ...expiring on 25th April, 1936. Suspension is for the Mining District of Bendigo, division Sandhurst, No. of lease 9903 for 3 months from 24.1.36 to 25.4.36. Document is part of the Margaret Roberts Collection of mining records.
