The item is a soft cover book recording factory orders of T.J. Connolly, Ironmongers, Sandhurst. Each handwritten page records the customer orders by date, name and goods supplied. The soft cardboard cover is navy blue with considerable wearing to the bottom right hand side corner, water damage to the top left hand corner and stains on the front and back. A paper rectangle is stuck to the front cover on which was stamped "Factory Order Book" but much of it is missing. The pages are bound together with string. The book includes the date range of October 1896 to December 1897. All pages have been used. This item is part of the Margaret Roberts Collection.

"B S GOODS" is hand drawn in large black capital letters across the front cover, with a brown paper rectangle stuck over the top on which is handwritten "Factory Order Book From Aug 20/94 to Nov 12th 1895". Also, on the front cover there are some ink spots between the D and S and other pen marks around the G, including mathematical workings (18 +13 = 31). The back cover also has ink spots and two groupings of mathematical workings.

The following pages are carbon copy records of work completed for each customer, recording date and description of work along with price. The pages are printed with the numbers 01 to 99 in the top right-hand corner. Pages 01 to 94 have been used. Pages 95 to 99 are blank. The descriptions of work mostly relate to work completed on cars but also includes hiring out of cars, destination and miles travelled. The customers include army personnel and recruiters. Each page is signed and or checked off in red pencil. The brown hard cardboard cover is worn and marked. The spine of the book is brown canvas. The pages are stapled together. The work records have also been checked off with ticks or crosses separately. The hard cardboard cover is green with red marbling, which is worn and torn. The leather binding has peeled away from the pages and front cover but is attached to the back cover. The pages are fragile with many loose pages due to the state of the binding. Envelope contains a light green invitation with blue printing inviting Mrs Henry Wilson to the 100th Birthday Celebrations of Bendigo January to December, 1951 and has a red stamp in the top left corner with Bendigo Centenary Jan 1st to Dec 31st 1951. Also contains a programme of events in Bendigo for the Festival Year 1951. Front of programme has picture of a miner holding a pick and a lady with an umbrella and a basket on her arm. Programme printed 30/9/50.
