Wendy Rees-Harrison is a prominent Australia artist, working mainly in watercolour and often depicting older terrace buildings in the Melbourne district. One source cites her being born in Ballarat. The Gold Mines Hotel was opened in 1857 at the height of the gold rush in Bendigo, and is still operating as a hotel venue. It is located at 49-57 Marong Rd, Golden Square, Bendigo, Victoria.
