Physical description

Trench Challenge Shield - Tennis Trophy. Stylised wooden easel holding a square of timber that has been chamfered, set in the centre is a square of metal, set 45/o on to the square of timber. Cartouche at top contains initials-- B.T.I.C. Shield engraved in centre contains The Trench Challenge Shield. A single tennis player at the net at extreme left, a palm tree left of centre, crossed tennis racquets engraved at bottom. Won in 1894 the inaugural year by W.Crowley.
