Bendigo Advertiser "The way we were" from 1999. Catholic College Bendigo: first built in 1865, it housed the Sisters of Mercy. Within three months of occupation the Sisters opened a school called St. Aloysius. The first of St Mary's College was opened in 1897. Gradually the entire block from View Street to Barkly Terrace East has been acquired.
