Bendigo Advertiser "The way we were" from Thursday, April 21, 2005. Firemen: Bendigo has always been served by a dedicated fire brigade, which often took on the elements regardless, of personal risk when attempting to save property and life. Pictured in the early 1900s is a fire crew aboard one of the first trucks used in Bendigo.
