In the 1930s the Victorian Education Department published The School Paper monthly for primary school students.Each one featured a combination of Australian poetry, literature and imperial values. The magazines were edited by teachers. George Wallace served as the editor from 1925 to 1934 and then John Ramsden Lyall from 1934 until 1940.
