Catherine (Katie) Farrell or O'Farrell came to Victoria with her parents in 1851. In 1865 she married John Doherty, a miner, and they had six children, all born at Springdallah/Happy Valley. John Doherty is understood to have ultimately owned the Exchequer Mine at Happy Valley.
