Historical information

In 1896 Ada Bersey, a daughter of William Thomas and Sarah Bersey (née Godden) married George Garnsworthy Bennett, a son of William Garnsworthy and Susan Bennett (née Williams). They had three sons, Gordon, born 1897, Harold, born 1902 and Stan, born 1904.
George Bennett initially worked for his father W G Bennett, but around the time he married he bought Fraser's butchery shop in Sussex Street (next to the bakery) and established his own butchery business.
