Historical information
Sarah Ann Dawe, née Carpenter, was the wife of William Dawe who ran a general store/greengrocery in Sussex Street, Linton, probably from the 1870s, and who also had mining interests. The Dawe family migrated to Victoria in 1857. They first lived at Geelong but are believed to have settled in Linton shortly after their daughter Mary Ann married Robert Simeon Nelson in 1864.
The photograph was printed from a glass plate negative found after death of the donor's uncle. Believed to be from collection of Augustus Titter (husband or son of Rose Dawe, who was Sarah and William Dawe's granddaughter).
