Historical information

It is understood that this receipt book came into the LDHS collection via PROV-Place of Deposit arrangements, but it is not clear when this happened. Two other Library receipt books were donated by Golden Plains Shire in 2017 as part of PROV-POD arrangements. See Registration nos. 2019-302 and 2019-303.

Physical description

"Ritewell" carbon-copy cash receipt book (No. 298), used at Linton Free Library between 1946 and 1948. Receipts numbered 1-27 record monies collected by the librarian, Mrs. Howard (for subscriptions etc) paid over to the Library honorary secretary, R. W. Leask. Receipts numbered 28-39 record monies collected by Mrs. Howard and paid into a bank account. Receipts after this are blank.

Inscriptions & markings

On back of receipt number 27: "Examined to date" with ( illegible) signature. On back of receipt number 39: "Audited to date" "9/12/48", signed "--(name or letters illegible) Smith".
