Andrew McKay migrated to Victoria from Scotland in 1853 and was living at Linton from the late 1850s. He had mining interests and also worked as a stonemason. Andrew McKay was an Elder of the Linton Presbyterian Church, and a member of the Carngham Board of Management of the Church from 1861. Andrew McKay and his wife Margaret (nee Robertson) had a large family, with seven of their children born at Linton. Their daughter Williamina was Postmistress at Linton between 1888-1890.
Andrew and Margaret McKay left Linton around 1882-83.
