Photo restoration was done using Pixelmator Pro, and enhancement with Topaz AI. The colours are interpretive and are based on his boyhood memories of growing up and living in Bendigo. The Qualtrough's mostly immigrated from the Isle of Man during the mid 1800s, and Malcolm grew up surrounded by old mining dumps and surrounding bush, in Bendigo, during the 1950s and 60s. Malcolm attended schools at Gravel Hill, Golden Square State School and Golden Square High School. His family attended church at St Andrews, St Marks and Specimen Hill. Malcolm embraced technology when he worked as a technical officer on the Extra High (500 kV) Voltage Power Grid in Generation and Transmission. Over 43 year he worked for various companies where he maintained and commissioned switchyard and power station equipment. Malcolm saw many advances in technology as equipment eveloved from electro mechanical to microprocessor and PLC controlled. Malcolm is a life member of Volleyball Victoria and a Past District Governor of Lions International. He works as a volunteer for the Bendigo Historical Society.
