Historical information

Alan Eglinton Eckford joined the Australian Military Service on the 14th October 1915. He saw service in France during the European campaign.
He was killed in action on the 14th December 1917.

Physical description

Circular Medal. (no ribbon).

Inscriptions & markings

Obverse depicts an effigy of King George the 5th. Reverse has an image of St. George on horseback trampling the eagle shield of the Central Powers, a skull and cross-bones, the emblem of death.
Service # 4407 Pte. A.L.Eckford 24 BN.A.I.F. are inscribed around edge of medal.
