Historical information

Photograph of W5 class 721 city bound on route 67 ascends an uphill grade on a busy thoroughfare with numerous motor vehicles parked on vacant allotments along the southwest edge of the roadway. This is likely High Street, St Kilda at the commencement of road-widening works in the early 1970s. These works were to widen the narrow High Street between the wider Brighton Road and the newly rebuilt St Kilda Junction. Properties on the northeast edge of High Street remained. In these years the Carnegie route number changed from 4 to 67.
