Historical information

This life vest is of the kind issued by PAN AM Airlines during the war in Vietnam. Pan Am played a significant, multifaceted role in the Vietnam War, primarily by transporting troops, supplies, and R&R personnel. They also conducted humanitarian missions like the final evacuation flights out of Saigon in April 1975, and Operation Babylift.

Physical description

Made of orange-coloured rubberised material with black writing printed on the front and the back. Also has red printing stating ownership, a bulb/light and two gas canisters with red rubber tubing protruding on either side of the jacket. The item is designed to pass over the head with black straps designed to secure it.
