Johann George Schaefer had been in the employ of the Victoria Consols Mine for fifty years at the time of his death in 1914. For twenty nine of those years, he held the position of Manager and Battery Manager. He was the brother of Mattaeus Schaefer, who made the model of the horse and spring cart.
Physical description
Black timber frame, decorative inner edging with dark grey matt enclosing an address given to Mrs. Schaefer by the Victoria Consols Mining Co., N.L. Bendigo, on the occasion of the death of her husband, Mr. Johann George Schaefer. The address is printed in black on cream card, addressed to Mrs. Schaefer, Webster Street, Bendigo, September 1914, signed by Directors and Manager, L.B. Berdi.
