Plaque - Plaque of HMAS Hobart

Historical information

In March 1967, HMAS Hobart became the first Royal Australian Navy combat ship deployed to fight in the Vietnam War. The Latin motto Sic fortis Hobartia crevit ( meaning 'thus in strength did Hobart grow") features on both the Coat of Arms and the earlier Crest of the city of Hobart.

Physical description

Red wooden plaque with metal insignia featuring a crown above the word HOBART, a gold rope circle around a red lion, with a shovel and pick under s raised paw. Beneath that is a boomerang, a nulla nulla, and a woomera over a Latin motto.
