The Commonwealth Athletic Club was formed in 1946 to promote Bendigo and to advance the sport of athletics.

Physical description

1. Official Programme for Commonwealth Athletic Club Bendigo, The Golden City, Athletic Carnival, Monday March 8th 1948. £2400 Prize Money. price One shilling. Front cover has map of Australia in the centre. Hanro Advertisement inside back cover. Sixteen page programme lists Officials, Events including the "Bendigo Thousand", and prizes. The results of most events have been recorded by the owner Leslie Maurice Youie OAM.
2. Two pages of typed biographical notes for Leslie (Les) Maurice Youie OAM, provided by his daughter. Notes include two coloured photographs. Les was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2007.
