The State Savings Bank of Victoria, originally the Savings Bank of Port Phillip, was established in 1842 and later became The State Savings Bank of Victoria in 1912. It eventually merged with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia in 1991. The bank was owned by the State of Victoria
