Dr George James Scantlebury (1860-1923) was a medical practitioner in Linton in the late 1880s. While practising there he married the local postmistress, Catherine Millington Baynes.
Dr Scantlebury was the father of Dr Vera Scantlebury (later Dr Vera Scantlebury Brown). Vera Scantlebury was born at Linton in August 1889.
The Scantlebury family moved to Cheltenham later that year.

Physical description

Original sepia photograph, head and shoulders portrait of a man with a moustache, who is wearing a suit with a white pocket handkerchief. Photograph has been mounted on brown card. Photographer's name and address printed below the photograph.
