Summary

This book was produced for the 50th anniversary of the Mount Beauty Primary School in order to record its unique history. It explains the role played by Bogong as the field headquarters for the Kiewa Hydro Scheme. Bogong Primary School opened on January 1, 1941, and closed on January 1, 1980. It served the children of State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SECV) workers who lived in this remote area. With the growth of the town due to influx of workers, Mount Beauty State School No. 4644 opened on the 3rd February 1948, in the SEC recreation hall.
