Photograph shows the scrapping prior to being burnt of W2 class tram 259 at Preston Workshops, during March 1975. The photographer notes that the saloon underframe and parts were used to repair tram 407 which is now owned and operated by the Melbourne Tramcar Preservation Association at Haddon and/or on the Ballarat Tramway Museum.

Significance

Yields information about dismantling or scrapping trams in order to provide parts to enable another tram to continue to operate.
