Historical information
On the 5th of December 1997, the Arthritis Foundation of Victoria recognised several of its volunteer members with Long Service and Oustanding Service Awards. The annual volunteers' celebration, which coincided with International Volunteers' Day, was held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Lou Richards (1923-2017), former player and captain of the Collingwood football team, was the special guest. In this photo, Lou Richards poses for a photo in front of the Arthritis Victoria "Move It Or Lose It" banner. The event is briefly mentioned on page 6 of the 1997 Annual Report in an article titled, 'Volunteer Co-Ordination'. A total of 50 volunteers were recognised for their contributions to the Foundation.
