Historical information

On Friday the 26th and Saturday the 27th of May, 1978, an art and craft exhibition was held as a fundraising event in support of the Rheumatism and Arthritis Association of Victoria (RAAV). Titled, "Living with Arthritis - Aids to Daily Living", the exhibition was held at St Andrew's Parish Hall in Brighton. Henceforth, it has been commonly referred to as "the Brighton Exhibition". A fashion parade and panel discussion were also held as part of the two-day event. In this photo, Dr Chris Handley holds up a sign while Occupational Therapist, Andrea Renton, addresses the audience during the panel discussion. Sitting on a wooden bench behind them are Dr Les Koadlow AO (1920-2006) and an unidentified panel member. This photo appears on page 4 of the Vol 9, July 1978 edition of RAAV's quarterly magazine, News Review. It is captioned: "Dr. Chris Handley assists Mrs. Andrea Renton, during her talk on the role of an Oc-cupational Therapist. Photo Ben Baxter." The photo accompanies an article titled, "Report of panel discussion at Brighton exhibition".
