Historical information
The 1998 National Arthritis Week (NAW) was launched by Ita Buttrose - journalist, editor, and spokesperson for the Arthritis Foundation of Victoria (AFV), now known as Arthritis Victoria (AV). Various sportspersons were also at the launch to help spread the message about exercise and better health outcomes. In this photo, Glenn Singleton (Australian International Canoe World Cup Team), Peter Hall (former VFL Carlton Football Club player/Victorian National Party politician), Ita Buttrose and Shirley Caulfield (Arthritis Victoria CEO) are depicted sitting in the front row of a gymnasium or indoor stadium at the launch, with a large group of school children sitting in multiple rows behind them.
