This article is about the launch of the first HMAS frigate in Williamstown. Launch honours went to Vivian Statham (nee Bullwinkle), survivor of the sinking of the SS Vyner Brooke, massacre of Australian nurses by Japanese soldiers on the beach at Bangka Island and time as a Japanese POW.
