The newspaper clipping is an obituary for Agnes Ivy Clyne, also known as Sunbury's grand old lady. Agnes, known as Ivy, died at the age of 95 on March 17 [1995]. Her funeral service was attended by friends and relatives on March 22 [1995].
Born April 29 1899, Ivy began her nursing career in her late teens, being a hospital matron before the outbreak of WWII. During the war she worked at the military hospitals in Heidelberg, Broken Hill and Bendigo, being promoted to Captain of the Nurse Corps. Ivy married in early 1948, but had no children. The obituary goes on the summarise her interests in racing, politics, bowling and organisations such as Salvation Army Companions Club, Returned Servicemen's League and the Country Women's Association.
