Summary
Louis Aulone, discovers a map which cryptically points the way to a treasure concealed somewhere in the Florida country by De Soto on his great wilderness march. In getting the map he also got a wound which shortened his life, so that his sheltered and beautiful young niece inherits the quest, along with Aulone's other and quite extensive worldly goods. Unfortunately, Aulone, said more than he meant to one night after dinner. A gang of international crooks had learned of the existence of the treasure.
