The photograph shows an unbroken rail head for trams crossing the intersection and the condition of the road surface. Meant that when a tram wheel was to pass over the unbroken rail head it would lift and then drop or crash over onto the other side. Photo by Mal Rowe 22/11/1969. Photo was used on page 35 in Keith Kings 1971 book "Ballarat Tramways."
