Historical information
The Royal Australian Navy (RAN) Submarine badge, known as the "Dolphins," features two dolphins and a crown and is awarded to qualified submariners in the RAN Submarine Service. Designed by Commander Alan McIntosh RAN and introduced in 1966, it is the same design that serves as a qualification badge for submariners in the Royal Navy Submarine Service.
Significance
The Submarine Sea Qualification badge (Dolphins) is worn by Officers and Sailors who have successfully completed the Submarine Sea Qualification.

Gold metal plated badge consisting of a gold and red enamel crown between two dolphins with fixing plugs on rear side.
