Historical information

Extensions and improvements to the bank's offices and also to the residence were undertaken in 1871/72.
Proposals and plans for improvement to the bank's premises, and an account of costs, are recorded in correspondence between the bank's manager, Samuel Lewers, and his Inspector, Mr Walsh, in the Bank of New South Wales Correspondence Book 1860-1904, which is in the LDHS collection. (Registration 2012-43).)
The date of the photograph is given as 1882 in an early index to photographs in the LDHS collection.

Physical description

Black and white copy of original photograph, which shows the Bank of New South Wales building in Sussex Street, Linton, after it was extended in 1871-72. The original building is on the left of the photograph, and the extensions can be seen to the right. The second window from the left was the original doorway.
