National Trust - preserving verandahs of significance (two typed letters on typing paper)
3097.8 17/05/1967 two-page letter from A.J. Watts Town Clerk to Mayor and Councillors reporting on Ballarat's actions taken to preserve verandahs of some significance within their municipality through their bylaw (passed in 1969). The bylaw noted that
* "as from June 1959 all verandahs must be of the cantilever type
* all non-cantilever type verandahs in approximately 30 streets or sections of street, a specified in the bylaw, must be demolished before 31st December 1969".
3097.1A 8/06/1967 single page from A.J. Watts Town Clerk to Mrs. R. Adams, Bendigo Branch National Trust "approximately seven years ago Bendigo Council made a by-law which states:
a) as from 1st September 1960 all new verandahs erected across a footway, must be of the cantilever type
b) all non-cantilever type verandahs, erected across s a footway, must be demolished before 31st December 1970.
