The single-person Millbank filter bag was used to filter particles and parasites out of water. From a collection of items that were issued to National Serviceman Barry James Lewis, Service # 4721403, who served in the Australian Army Catering Corps, Detachment, 5th Australian Services Canteen Organisation, in Vietnam from 10 Nov 1970 until 21 Oct 1971.
Physical description
A green bag shaped like a sock made of fine weave canvas to allow water to filter slowly from inside the bag. The top of the filter has two brass eyelets set opposite each other so the object can be hung up during water filtering. Instructions for use are sewn at top of bag and a black line indicates how much water the filter can hold.
