World War I honor boards — also known as honor rolls — are deeply significant commenorative artifacts found throughout Australia. They serve as both historical records and symbols of community remembrance.

These honor board were often made from deeply carved wood and could be found in places of work, churches, City & Shire Halls, schools etc.

H.V. McKays Sunshine Harvester Works, located in Sunshine Victoria, was a large company that was proud of their servicemen who served in the military forces during World War I.

In August 1917, the Sunshine Harvester Works unveiled its Honor Board during a tree-planting ceremony in Sun Crescent, Sunshine to commemorate local soldiers who had gone to war.
