Article - A summary of Kathleen Wheelers' (later O'Dwyer) experience of nurse training from 1925-1928 and later, at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne

Historical information

The summary documents Miss Wheelers' time during her training. For example, nurses were given board and meals but not paid wages. They had to bring linen and sets of cutleries and had to pay a ten-pound entrance fee to cover uniforms and laundering. There was a six-week probation period and if accepted, they became junior nurses who studied theory whilst working long hours in the hospital.
