Historical information
Since this label came to PMHPS along with a selection of labels for Swallow and Ariell biscuits it is assumed that the George V label is also from Swallow & Ariell. The company produced a tin of mixed biscuits called "Queen's Own" with Queen Mary, George V's wife, on the label. It is possible that they also produced a "King's Own" assortment and on the death of Edward VII in 1910 these labels were produced to update the product without needing to reprint the whole label. A photo of a collection of biscuit tins on Flickr has two such tins for two different Kings however they were produced by Arnott's.
