During the 1960's the Victorian Government ordered trials to catch prawns off Lakes Entrance.
Fisheries officer Alan Temple obtained the prawn boat 'Challenger' from Evans Head NSW . It was crewed by local fisherman and although prawns were found it did not continue in order to protect the NSW prawn industry (info from Frank Mitchelson)
