Bendigo Advertiser article, 1st August ,1995, titled 'Old Mines pose risk to children'. Children are playing in former mine sites, entering shafts and stopes that pose a dangerous threat to their health. Some sites have low oxygen levels in the stopes and there can be large 'amounts of hydrogen sulphide, or 'rotten egg gas'.
