Historical information

The photographs show track work at the Swan St railway overbridge Burnley as part of the construction of the third track between Burnley and Hawthorn stations. The work involved a temporary track on part of the future bridge which involved single line working for tram line for a while. Construction crews are working on setting up the deviation for the temporary track. There is a sign for Leighton contractors. Work was done during April 1969 - item 1426. See item 6600 for other photographs of the work.
