The photograph shows the demolition or removal of the cable tram track in Nicholson St Fitzroy. Shows the removal of the rail and concrete around the yokes. In the background is the Tankerville Arms Hotel and an AMPOL Service station. A route bus is parked on the left hand side of the photo. An excavator and compressor are parked as well along the work site which appear so to be working towards Gertrude St on the outbound track. Photo taken during 1955, the new line to East Brunswick was opened in April 1956.
