Historical information
The photograph shows W2 class tram 374 (Carnegie Route 4) on the new track section that formed the underpass and then along Queensway or continued along High or Fitzroy Sts. It would appear that the temporary track on the right side of the photo is being dismantled. See item 8946 for a photo a tram using the underpass and onto Queens Road, Oct.1968 and item 8964 for a photo during the temporary works stage.
Significance
Yields information about the tram track arrangements during the construction of St Kilda Junction.
