In the background is the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Haymarket gates with the sign "The Friendly Way" and a sign promoting the future dental hospital. See reference - possibly c1952, based on the reference date. The term "The Friendly Way" was used by TAA Airlines. The airline used the site as a garage along with the Dept. of Supply. At the time the Haymarket site was owned by the City of Melbourne,
