Historical information
This image of Sydney Industrial Blind Institute was created by Adam Stephan (lithographic printer) and Samuel Phillip (photographer), who developed a process of creating a photo sensitive plate, transferring an image via photography, which could be then inked and printed. In 1880 the SIBI opened and stayed on the same site for almost 90 years. To the right a large sign on the side of the building next door can be seen: Lawson & Son, Cabinetmakers and Upholsters, Makers Old Wood Furniture.
